GRAFENWOEHR, Germany — Soldiers assigned to U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria in Grafenwoehr, Vilseck, Hohenfels, or Garmisch will need to use the Army Career Tracker’s Total Army Sponsorship Program to request a sponsor and initiate Form DA 5434 (advice and information sheet on the sponsorship program).

Dubbed the Total Army Sponsorship Program, or TASP, the program is accessible on the ACT website and replaces EASI-GATE as the sponsorship application processing program, which was used to process orders for permanent change of station to Europe.

TASP aims to help soldiers better integrate into the military and assist them in their transition to different units. Sponsorship applies to all Active Component Soldiers in the ranks of Private (E-1) through Colonel (O-6), in accordance with TASP, AR 600-8-8 and HQDA EXORD 161-15. Here’s how to request a sponsor using TASP once you’ve received notification from HRC regarding your assignment instructions:

  1. Log in to https://actnow.army.mil.
  2. Complete the DA 5434 form. In the left column, click on the “Messages” drop-down menu, “DA 5434 form”.
  3. Click on “Create a new form”.
  4. Complete all applicable sections (Sections 1, 2, 4 and 5).
  5. Once completed, your sponsor will be notified.
  6. You will receive a notification in the “Messages” section if your sponsor changes in ACT.

FAQs

Q: Why can’t I see the referral page?

A: Users will be eligible for sponsorship if they meet the following conditions:

  • Users’ FROM and TO locations are part of the Total Army Sponsorship program.
  • A Sponsorship Coordinator has officially assigned a Soldier to be a Sponsor for a new Soldier.
  • The date of the incoming soldier’s report meets the requirements of the place of arrival.

Q: Why is my DA 5434 form not loading correctly?

A: Problems loading the DA 5434 form usually occur due to incorrect browser settings. Using the following settings will solve most display problems with the DA 5434 form:

  • IE9 – Set Compatibility View to OFF
  • IE11 – Set compatibility view to ON

Q: Where can I find the DA 5434 form?

A: Form DA 5434 is located under “Sponsorship” and can be accessed through the following sponsorship sub-pages:

Q: I have completed the necessary sections of the DA 5434 form. Why am I still getting a notification that has not been completed?

A: Users will continue to receive notifications that their DA 5434 form is incomplete under the following conditions:

  • A sponsor has completed Section 3, but Sections 1, 2, 4, or 5 must still be completed by the incoming Soldier.
  • An incoming soldier has completed Sections 1, 2, 4, and 5, but the assigned sponsor has not yet completed Section 3.

Q: If my assignment has changed, do I need to recreate my DA 5434 form?

A: If the original orders have been canceled or revoked, the new soldier will need to create a new DA 5434 form once a new assignment has been provided by the HRC.

Q: Who is my sponsor?

A: Once you have been assigned a sponsor, you will receive a welcome letter from your sponsorship coordinator that includes your sponsor and their contact information. Additionally, you can see your sponsor in section 3c of your DA 5434 form.

Q: Is there an option for me to upload information on the DA Form 5434?

A: Currently, there is no option to upload information on DA Form 5434.
