Sill, Richard “Dickie” J. Sr. WATERVLIET Richard “Dickie” J. Sill Sr. entered eternal life on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. Dickie was in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963 during the Bay of Pigs invasion during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He retired from the Albany Fire Department after 38 years and spent nearly as many years with the Capital District Ambulance. He also helped the Albany Patroons and the Metro Mallers. He was the husband of Arlene Acker Sill; father of Richard J. Sill Jr. (Stacy) and Cindy Roy; Sydney’s grandfather, Richard J. Sill III and Scott Jr. and Lacey Roy; brother of James Sill (Betty) and Pam Keenan (Bill). Many stepchildren and step-grandchildren also survive. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family of Dickie on Saturday, February 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please enter the funeral home only through the rear parking lot entrance. Unvaccinated people should wear a mask and practice social distancing.
