US Navy Rear Admiral General Among Guest Speakers at Carson City Rotary Meeting | Carson City Nevada News

The Rotary Club of Carson City is participating in US Navy Week in Carson City this week. Three Navy representatives will join Rotarians for their weekly working lunch on Tuesday, September 27. The meeting takes place at noon in the Grand Ballroom of the Brewery Arts Center.

Rear Admiral Bruce Gillingham, US Navy Surgeon General, will be the guest speaker. He will be joined by Chef Cal Moseman and MC1 John Grandin.

The public is invited to attend. The Brewery Arts Center is located at 449 W King St, Carson City.

Admiral Gillingham is a distinguished orthopedic surgeon and has received numerous military and medical honours. He served aboard the USNS Mercy hospital ship. He was also deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom II where he was in charge of the Surgical Shock Trauma Platoon.

The U.S. Navy is hosting Navy Week in the Reno-Carson City area from September 26 through October 2. The outreach program gives residents the opportunity to interact with naval officers and sailors at various community events. Navy Week also allows the public to learn about the services provided by the Navy as well as its role in national security.
